On 13 January 2023, a some of European states proposed to ECHA a restriction on the use of PFAS with the objective of reducing emissions into the environment. The restriction concerns about 10 000 PFAS substances that are very persistent in the environment. If emissions are not reduced, adverse effects on people and the environment are possible.
In March 2023 ECHA’s Scientific Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) will verify that the proposal meets the legal requirements of REACH and then they will start a scientific evaluation.
