Poison Centre Notification (PCN) requirements were accidentally retained in the GB CLP from Annex VIII of the EU CLP Regulation, as confirmed by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and are therefore currently mandatory in UK.

Companies have to submit the information on classified mixture to the National Poisons Information Service (NPIS), that is now encouraging companies to comply with Annex VIII. The requirments and the deadlines are not still clear, but NPIS is indeed rejecting voluntary submissions of SDS and is asking for PCN dossiers instead. Everything is still under evaluation and we can’t exclude that in the next future the requirments will be removed from UK law and implemented only on a voluntary basis, as first agreed.
