Watch out: substances recovered from waste are frequently non-compliant!

The new enforcement project conducted by ECHA, in cooperation with national inspectorates, to find out if substances recovered from waste met the compliance with both REACH regulation and Waste Directive Framework, revealed that one substance in four was non-compliant. Meanwhile safety data sheets (SDSs) were available in 96 % of the cases, 37% of the inspected cases did not meet the main CLP Regulation requirements on classification, labelling and packaging.

The non-compliances led to written advice, fines and administrative orders. Therefore, if you are a waste operator we advise you to check your compliance and gain knowledge on your substances and their final uses.
