The 15th of January 2024 the European Commissione published on the Official Journal of the European Union the implementing Regulation (UE) 2024/235 approving Alkyl (C12-16) dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride (ADBAC/BKC (C12-C16)) CAS: 68424-85-1 as an existing active substance for use in biocidal products PT 2 in accordance with Regulation BPR.
ADBAC is cationic surfactant, well-known as biocidal active substance widely used in detergent products and disinfectants.
Il Regolamento (UE) 528/2012 stabilisce che tutti i prodotti biocidi autorizzati a livello nazionale, contenenti questa sostanza attiva e impiegati nella disinfezione di superfici dure non a contatto con alimenti (PT 2) debbano essere autorizzati per poter rimanere in commercio. Per fare ciò sarà necessario predisporre e presentare entro la data di approvazione 1 luglio 2025, un dossier di prodotto o di famiglia in modo tale da fornire alle aziende la possibilità di usufruire delle misure transitorie e garantire continuità d’immissione in commercio.
The Biocidal Product Regulation (EU)528/2012 states that all biocidal products containing this active substance and used in general non porous hard surfaces disinfection (PT 2) must be authorized to stay on the market. Therefore, companies who have authorized this kind of biocidal products according to national legislation must prepare and submit biocidal product dossiers or biocidal product family dossiers within the 1st July 2025 to stay on the market during tranitional period.
